Advisors' Opinion:- [By Roberto Pedone]
One potential earnings short-squeeze candidate is adventure sports facilities and ski resorts player Vail Resorts (MTN), which is set to release numbers on Friday before the market open. Wall Street analysts, on average, expect Vail Resorts to report revenue of $117.82 million on a loss of $1.71 per share.
The current short interest as a percentage of the float for Vail Resorts stands at 5%. That means that out of the 35.43 million shares in the tradable float, 1.79 million shares are sold short by the bears. The bears have also been increasing their bets from the last reporting period by 7%, or by 116,000 shares. If the bears are caught pressing their bets into a bullish quarter, then shares of MTN could spike sharply higher post-earnings.
From a technical perspective, MTN is currently trending above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, which is bullish. This stock has been uptrending strong for the last three months, with shares soaring higher from its low of $60.01 to its recent high of $71.18 a share. During that uptrend, shares of MTN have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of MTN within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade.
If you're bullish on MTN, then I would wait until after its report and look for long-biased trades if this stock manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance at $70.95 a share to its 52-week high at $71.18 a share with high volume. Look for volume on that move that hits near or above its three-month average action of 137,456 shares. If that breakout hits, then MTN will set up enter new 52-week high territory, which is bullish technical price action. Some possible upside targets off that breakout are $80 to $85 a share.
I would avoid MTN or look for short-biased trades if after earnings it fails to trigger that breakout, and then drops back below its 50-day moving average of $68.1

Advisors' Opinion:- [By DAILYFINANCE]
Andrew Harrer/Bloomberg via Getty Images NEW YORK -- Men's Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank Clothiers are moving a bit closer to a possible combination, announcing they are exchanging certain confidential information with each other. Men's Wearhouse (MW) said Monday that it's also received a draft merger agreement from Jos. A. Bank (JOSB). The news comes four days after Jos. A. Bank, based in Hampstead, Md., rejected the latest acquisition bid of $1.78 billion from Men's Wearhouse. The offer of $63.50 a share was increased from Men's Wearhouse's previous bid of $57.50 a share. The Houston company has said it may raise the bid to $65 a share, if some conditions are met. While Jos. A. Bank nixed the $63.50 a share offer, it did say Thursday that it was willing to meet with Men's Wearhouse to discuss the higher bid. Men's Wearhouse's $63.50 a share offer is set to expire on March 12, unless extended. Walter Loeb, a New York-based retail consultant, said that the latest maneuver is much more than gamesmanship between the two chains. "I think they're getting closer to a deal," he said. "There's pressure from shareholders from both sides." Loeb believes that a deal could be reached as early as this week. The back-and-forth between Men's Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank started in October, when Jos. A. Bank offered to buy its larger rival for $2.3 billion. Men's Wearhouse scoffed at that offer, and turned the tables, offering to buy its rival for $1.54 billion. But after Jos. A. Bank turned down that overture, Men's Wearhouse increased its bid to $1.6 billion, and then again to $1.78 billion. The latest exchange between Jos. A. Bank and Men's Wearhouse comes nearly three weeks after Jos. A. Bank announced that it was planning to buy the parent company of Eddie Bauer in a cash-and-stock deal valued at $825 million. But at the time, Jos. A. Bank left the door open, saying it may end the Eddie Bauer deal if it receives an acquisition offer that is superior.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By James E. Brumley]
In a perfect world, Oasis Petroleum Inc. (NYSE:OAS) and Shanda Games Limited (NASDAQ:GAME) would always reflect the true underlying value of their respective companies. In reality, GAME and OAS are both well-watched, and frequently-traded, stocks that can take on a life of their own, reflecting ever-changing opinions of the companies rather than the companies' actual value. There's an upside to that disconnect, however - knowing each chart may or may not reflect the actual value of Shanda Games Limited and Oasis Petroleum means you can take the clues given to us by their chart. After all, since charts are just a reflection of public opinion, and since public opinion is actually rather predictable, the way things appear to be - visually - may actually be the way things are. And in this case, the way things are with OAS happens to be a polar opposite with the way things are with GAME.

Another under-$10 gaming player that's starting to move within range of triggering a major breakout trade is Shanda Games (GAME), which is an online game company in China in terms of the size, diversity of its game portfolio, game revenues and game player base. This stock is off to a strong start in 2013, with shares up by 24%.
If you take a look at the chart for Shanda Games, you'll notice that this stock has formed a major bottoming chart pattern over the last two months, with shares of GAME finding significant buying interest whenever it's pulled back to around $3.80 a share. Shares of GAME are now starting to trend within range of triggering a major breakout trade above some key near-term overhead resistance levels. Those levels have acted as resistance for GAME for the last two months.
Market players should now look for long-biased trades in GAME if it manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $4.85 to $4.98 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 1.71 million shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then GAME will set up to re-test or possibly take out its 52-week high at $6.42 a share.
Traders can look to buy GAME off weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below its 50-day at $4.18 a share or below that major support at $3.80 a share. One can also buy GAME off strength once it clears those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.
